Laser Hair Removal

At Advanced Hair Removal & Skin Institute, we specialize in permanent hair removal. We have found utilizing laser hair removal for this process to be highly efficient in permanently disabling hair follicles from producing unwanted hair. Our clinicians have been performing laser hair removal services for over 12 years and use only the most advanced, up-to-date equipment. Our laser is the Cynosure Apogee Elite dual laser, which means it is actually two lasers in one unit. The Elite offers the ability to use either the Alexandrite 755nm or Nd:Yag 1064nm wavelengths.

The following are some commonly asked questions, however, the answers are general and may not apply to your situation. Our clinicians understand everybody is unique when it comes to hair growth patterns and reasons for removal. For this reason, we offer complimentary consultations in order to specifically answer your questions which center around your individual concerns.

+How does it work?
To eliminate hair, the laser emits gentle pulses of energy that pass through te skin to the hair follicle. This energy is then absorbed into the hair follicle by means of the hair pigment, or melanin. This process creates enough heat to destroy the follicle so that another hair will not grow there again. +Am I a candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal can be applied to all areas of the face and body and on all types of skin, even tanned or dark skin. However, since it needs melanin to produce the head needed to destroy the follicle, red, white or blonde hairs will not respond to laser hair removal treatments. In this case, electrolysis is the best option.

+How does it feel?
Clients often say it feels similar to the snap of a rubber band or a slight sting. While there is some discomfort, it should always be tolerable. Slight redness or localized swelling can occur, but this usually subsides within the first 24 hours after treatment.

+How many laser treatments are required?
Typically clients will see results in at least 6 treatments, though the number may vary upon skin tone, hair color and many other factors. The treatments are usually spaced apart about every 4-8 weeks depending on the area. Your clinician will talk to you about variables that may affect your individual needs.

+What does it cost?
The cost of treatment is determined on a per area per treatment basis. For instance, the underarms cost $100 per treatment. This cost is consistant for the first six treatments. Then the cost is reduced to half the price or less, depending on the amount of hair and the area. At this point the area of treatment is considered to be on maintenance and will most likely be spaced a little further apart. At the complimentary consultation specific pricing will be reviewed and given to each client in written form. For client safety and quality of treatment, a test spot will be performed with a delayed waiting period of 48 hours before full treatment. There is a minimal fee of $50 for this service.
